The Doctrine of the Avatar – Part 1: What Is an Avatar and Why Humanity Calls Them

"Behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." – Revelation 22:12-13

There are times in this world when the shadows grow so thick you can barely see your own hand in front of your face. And it is in those dark hours, when hearts ache for something real and prayers pour out like rivers, that Heaven rolls up its sleeves and sends us an Avatar.

I am not talking about just any preacher or prophet. An Avatar is the real deal, a direct beam of Divine Light stepping into our world for one reason: to lift humanity higher.

What Exactly Is an Avatar?

Think of an Avatar as the Christ Principle itself, the purest Divine Consciousness, squeezing itself down into a form our eyes can see, even if it is not really “flesh and bone” like ours. They are not weighed down by karma. They have never had to come back life after life to work things out. They come here by choice, not by necessity.

And why would someone who has already touched eternity come back here? Simple. Love. The kind that makes you give up your seat in Heaven because you hear your family crying in the night.

Their body is unlike anything you or I have. It is made of spiritual atoms, glowing with a rhythm that belongs to the higher realms. It does not age. It does not decay. They can step in and out of different planes of existence as easily as you and I step off the porch.

The Mind of an Avatar

An Avatar does not go to school to learn wisdom. They are wisdom. Their knowing runs as deep as the roots of the oldest oak, and their love stretches wider than the sky on a summer evening.

They do not belong to any one race, creed, or nation. They carry the beauty of all peoples in their being, which means no one can rightly claim them as “ours” and “not yours.” They come for everybody.

Why Do They Come?

An Avatar steps in when humanity has gone too far down a road of confusion and hurt. You can spot the signs:

• The spiritual leaders lose their connection to the Divine and start running on empty.

• Sacred ceremonies become just words without power.

• Injustice runs wild, and corruption seeps into every corner.

• And all the while, people’s hearts keep crying out, “Lord, we need the truth. Show us the way.”

When that cry gets loud enough, it makes a kind of space in the spiritual atmosphere, a vacuum, that draws the Christ Principle down into the world like rain to thirsty soil.

Even the Bhagavad Gita says it plain:
"Whenever virtue fades and injustice rises, I come, age after age, to protect the good, to destroy evil, and to restore righteousness."

The First Stirring of an Arrival

Before an Avatar arrives, the world gets restless. People start feeling that nudge to be better, to do better, even if they do not know why.

It could be a politician suddenly standing for truth, an artist painting visions of hope, a teacher showing children the light inside them, or a mystic praying the world into wholeness. These are all ripples from the same stone, the approach of the Avatar.

Behind it all, the Masters of Wisdom are at work, guiding, inspiring, and planting seeds so the soil of human hearts will be ready for the harvest of light to come.

Avesha Avatars – The Forerunners

Sometimes the world is not quite ready for the full brilliance of the Avatar, so a lesser but still mighty messenger steps in. These are called Avesha Avatars.

An Avesha Avatar is an advanced soul, someone pure-hearted and devoted, chosen to be overshadowed by the Christ Principle for a time. They act like a lantern in the night, guiding the way for the greater Light that is coming.

John the Baptist was one. And a true Avesha Avatar will always be humble. They will not claim the title of Avatar, and they will not ask for worship. They will tip their hat to other messengers too, knowing we are all drinking from the same Divine Well.
